Togolese Government To Assist disaster victims

Tornadoes, torrential rains, floods, Togo is regularly hit by bad weather.



The most affected areas are the Maritime region, Savannah, Kara, Plateaux and Central.

Since the beginning of this year, 1,600 homes were affected, slightly more than 10,000 people.

 The government Tuesday launched a relief operation that consists of the provision of food, clothing and construction equipment to restore damaged homes. In addition, schools will be rehabilitated.

For the Minister of Social Action, Tchabinandi Kolani-Yentcharé, it is impossible to stop the weather, but we can anticipate to limit their harmful effects.

This assistance, valued at over 300 million CFA francs, covers only claims incurred since January.

Besides the state, the Bank also provides assistance to affected populations.
