The World Expo in Milan opens its doors Friday to six months of discussions and festivities around agriculture and food.
Some 140 countries, including Togo, participate in the event which will run until the end of October in a million m2 with the official theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life".
Some 20 million visitors are expected at this event.
The Expo has a total of some 80 houses, including 54 managed directly by countries, dedicated to new products such as coffee or rice, and other housing and businesses or civil society organizations.
Togo had decided to participate in Expo Milano 2015 in the pole Cereals and tubers, with the theme "Contribution of cereals and tubers for food and nutrition security of Togo populations. '
Maize, rice, sorghum, millet, fonio, yam and cassava, these cereals and tubers are the essential basis of the Togo food model.
For the country, this is an opportunity to showcase to the international community its heritage of knowledge about the characteristics agricultural products cultivated crops, production processes, recipes cuisine and cultural values of the country.
The flag of Togo is part of the cluster concept, which welcomes visitors in a profusion of colors, surfaces, perfumes and suggestions that relate to their culture. The course unfolds like a river through the pavilions of different countries (Mozambique, Congo, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, Haiti and Togo) before leading to a large covered space which houses events and catering offer.
The World Expo has completely new characteristics. It goes beyond mere exposure container service through a participatory process that seeks to involve so many active stakeholders of the project around a crucial theme: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.
