The airspace of Togo and Benin continue to be managed by the Administration of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Lomé and Cotonou will not retrieve the sovereignty of heaven, but this is new and they will now be associated with the management of the GCAA and generated income which, until now, were going into the pockets of Ghana.
Business is juicy.
Each aircraft that borrows the airspace controlled by the FIR (Flight Information Region Accra), ie a large area of the Atlantic Ocean which borders Ghana, Togo and Benin, performs a right to fly over will 200 to $ 600 depending on the size of the device.
For the first six months of 2014, and Accra would have pocketed nearly 5 million.
At the end of the tripartite agreement, the Togolese and Beninese teams will join the team of the GCAA and revenues will be shared equitably.
The presidents Gnassingbe, Thomas Yayi Boni (Benin) and John Dramani Mahama (Ghana) gathered Wednesday in Accra to discuss the outlines of the new agreement.
Simply put, the three countries will share the costs and revenues equally.
The details will be discussed soon by the transport ministers and heads of agencies of Civil Aviation of the 3 countries.
