Togo is a small country that must act great

Togo has the potential to take off and build a modern and innovative economy, anchored in the twenty-first century. This formula is not extracted from a Togolese government promotional brochure, but the passage from a speech by the ambassador of the USA in Lome on the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of his country .  


'Since my arrival in Togo, I often speak of the great economic potential of Togo, because of its location in the heart of a regional market undergoing rapid expansion, with more than three hundred million people, and a terminal a world-class port, invaluable natural resources, and the most friendly people in West Africa, "said Gilmour.

The country needs to develop its human resources, strengthen education adapted to the labor market that happens learning, said the US ambassador.

'The United States recently acknowledged the progress of Togo in terms of political and economic reforms through his selection to the Millennium Challenge Threshold Program. We encourage Togo to continue its reforms (...) to create conditions that will attract investment and employment opportunities, "noted Mr. Gilmour.

The US diplomat urged the government to create conditions so that the Togolese to succeed their lives in their country without having to seek that ideal overseas.

It welcomed the commitment of some Togolese living in the United States to participate in the development of their country

'I have spoken with many of them and I can tell you that they are very motivated to come to invest and start business in Togo', he said.
