The World Bank has granted Togo in November 2013 a loan of $ 30 million intended to conduct studies to enhance connectivity through the realization of the regional West African Development Communications Infrastructure Program (Warcip).
The objective is to define a global strategy to study the operational conditions of the deployment of high and ultra-fast broadband in the country.
The ambition of the BM is also to foster the interconnection between the West African country.
As part of this program, Togo will build a data center and colocation Centre (also called Carrier Hotel) for hosting private servers; ideal formula for midsize IT companies.
This architecture will provide a connection very broadband and very high availability internet, infrastructure (servers, power, cooling), services to operators pooled roommate. The pooling provides better quality of infrastructure and services while significantly reducing costs for roommates.
According Cina Lawson Minister of Digital Economy, the device will allow to soon gain international bandwidth, high-capacity, which will be made available to operators and internet service providers established in Togo, at the lowest prices and the best quality.
'The project is at a very advanced level technical studies are completed and under validation', said Friday the minister.
It remains to launch the tender to identify an operator of Carrier Hotel and acquire international bandwidth.
