Togo has decided to revive its once thriving tourist industry. Purveyor of employment and foreign exchange, the industry had collapsed during the social and political unrest of the 90s.
The priority is the construction and renovation of hotels and restaurants, especially in the capital.
Sign of this rebirth, opening in a few weeks a new hotel by the sea just minutes from the center of Lomé.
The Onomo Lomé (127 rooms and 4 suites) has been specially designed for businessmen. The rooms offer the essentials in terms of comfort (bedding, walk-in shower, separate toilet, safe) with a focus on technology (Speed Internet, satellite flat screen TV).
The hotel has several meeting rooms for seminars, a bar and a restaurant.
This three star hotel offers opening prices rather reasonable at 51,000 CFA francs.
Onomo The Group is already established in Dakar, Libreville, Abidjan and Bamako.
For its part, the Spanish Pefaco completes the construction of a 5 star seafront, right next to the hotel Sarakawa. The work started 5 years ago and should be completed by the end of the year if all goes well.
Hotel on February 2, the flagship of the Togolese hotel - a 35-storey tower in the heart of the administrative area - was nationalized after being sold to the Libyans who have never met their commitments. A concession was granted for the opening of Radisson Blu. The work should be completed in October.
There remains the case of the Sarakawa hotel. Formerly operated by the French Accor, the complex of 120 rooms with Olympic pool looking for a buyer.
