'We have chosen democracy. And we must assume. Voting is a civic responsibility. Thus we choose the direction in which we want to steer the country ', hammered Bawara Gilbert, Minister of Territorial Administration during an awareness campaign which led in 10 districts of the municipality of Lomé where there is a high proportion of the electorate.
He called on the population to remain calm, dialogue, exchange of ideas. The election is not a boxing ring, but a great opportunity to come together in support of democracy, repeated Mr. Bawara.
The minister said that all safety conditions are met to allow candidates to campaign across the country.
'At least 8,000 gendarmes and police officers are trained to protect the meetings, candidates, polling stations, transportation of ballots and results. We sought to consolidate the Francophone electoral lists, in agreement with the representatives of candidates. There is no reason that citizens are challenging the election process. The government has taken all the transparency measures', he said.
Gilbert Bawara asked the Togolese massively vote on 25 April.
The five candidates for president are all equal. But we know they do not have the same build, the same experience to run for the presidency. I urge you to make a citizen choice, the choice of development, choosing the strengthening of democracy and the choice of peace and stability ', concluded Minister at its different stages.
