A Togolese three chose the American model of development as the best for the future of Togo, according to a recent survey by the Institute Afrobarometer with 1,200 adults.
France, the former colonial power, is only fourth position.
For a Togolese in three (33%), the United States is the best model for future development for Togo. They come ahead of China (19%), South Africa (15%) and France (14%).
But a majority of Togolese consider that France is still the country that has the most influence in their country.
These data highlight the aspirations of Togo's development and their perceptions of the interaction of their country from the rest of the world, says the institute.
The choice reflected in this survey is not surprising. Europe, Asia or the Middle East, the American way of life made recipe and lifestyle approaches more and more American standards.
Afrobarometer is a research network that conducts opinion surveys on democracy, governance, economic conditions and other related issues in more than 30 countries in Africa.
