The six friends linked by African dance will start in October in Togo to conduct a humanitarian project with young orphans. They organize several events to finance the purchase of supplies. Carine, both Karine with a "K", Isabelle, Sylvie and Guéna are six girlfriends united by a passion for African dance.
There are six months, they wanted to mount a humanitarian project. The Bacanas were born. "Ba" to Batou na Bantu, the association when they dance, "A" as Africa and "Nas" because they are six girls! From October 2 to 18, they start to Adétikopé, a town about 30 km from Lome, capital of Togo, with JVSI (Young Volunteers for International Solidarity), an association based in Le Mans.
The Bacanas finance their trip from their own pockets. "It's humanitarian," they throw in chorus. On site, they live with the locals. "We'll sleep on the floor.
There is no running water, then it will fetch water from the well. We will participate in household chores, "adds Guéna. And no tourist question, except for a weekend canoe that Bacanas decided to pay more. Fun workshops and tutoring orphanage For two weeks they will occur in Cehbed orphanage which houses 80 children aged 4 to 18 years.
Their mission tutoring in the morning and fun activities (creative workshops, sports activities, games ...) afternoon. The six girlfriends will not arrive empty-handed. They have already recovered material (books, balls, beads, felt, etc.). But they can not bring everything in their luggage. "It's two suitcases of 23 kg per person only," says Guéna.
The six girlfriends are looking for funds to buy notebooks, pencils and equipment for the activities of the afternoon, on the spot. Calendars are for sale (5 €) at Clam and supermarket, two shops of Bono.
They are also available directly from Guéna. They will also sell envelopes that buyers write their address. They will be posted from Togo with a drawing or a small word of a child. On April 12, the girls are organizing an internship zumba and African dances to Jean-Le-Led dining (reservations recommended) and Bono.
