Christians in Togo are in full celebration of Easter since the beginning of Holy Week.
It begins on Palm Sunday (solemn entry of Christ into Jerusalem) includes Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. It concludes with the Easter Vigil on the night of Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday (Resurrection of Christ).
Among the celebrations marking out this journey towards Easter - Palm Sunday Mass, Chrism Mass, Mass of the Lord's Supper, Office of the Passion, Easter Vigil and Easter Mass - one of them holds a special place: Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil brings together, for rituals, all elements of the message of Easter. Baptisms of adults and young people, to be celebrated that night, spill over throughout the community and remind everyone the promises of his baptism.
Easter is the heart of the Christian faith.
Monday will be busy in Togo, but on Friday the administration and the private sector idle. Thousands of civil servants and employees suddenly find faith and abandon their office to participate in the Cross.
